Target intelligence / Profile preview
The growth factor signaling pathway is a complex network of cellular communication that regulates essential biological processes such as cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Growth factors bind to specific receptors on the surface of target cells, initiating a cascade of intracellular signaling events that ultimately lead to changes in gene expression and cellular behavior. Aberrant activation or mutation in components of this pathway is implicated in many cancers due to increased cellular growth signals leading to tumorigenesis. Targeting these pathways pharmacologically has become an important strategy in cancer therapy.
