Target intelligence / Profile preview

C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CXCL1)

Target
CXCL1
Molecular classification
Chemokine, CXC Chemokine
01

Overview

CXCL1 is a small peptide belonging to the CXC chemokine family that primarily functions as a chemoattractant for neutrophils and other immune cells. It plays a key role in mediating leukocyte recruitment and activation to promote inflammation, wound healing, angiogenesis, and tumorigenesis. Elevated levels of CXCL1 have been observed in various pathological conditions, including chronic inflammation, fibrosis, cancer progression, and ischemia-reperfusion injury.

02

Mechanism of action

CXCL1 binds to CXCR2, a G protein-coupled receptor, activating intracellular signaling pathways including PI3Kγ/Akt, MAP kinases (ERK1/2), and PLCβ pathways, leading to further production of inflammatory cytokines.
