Overview

GRPEL1P3 (GRPEL1 pseudogene 3) is a pseudogene in the human genome, related in sequence to the protein-coding GRPEL1 gene. Pseudogenes are non-functional gene fragments arising from duplication or retrotransposition events, and do not encode functional RNA or protein products. GRPEL1P3 does not participate in molecular or cellular biological processes and has no known druggability, disease link, or role as a biomarker or safety concern. The related functional gene, GRPEL1, encodes a mitochondrial nucleotide exchange factor involved in protein import and protein folding in the mitochondrial matrix, with roles in cellular homeostasis and disease. However, GRPEL1P3 itself lacks these attributes and is not considered a therapeutic target.
