Overview

Gse1 coiled-coil protein (GSE1) is a proline-rich protein containing coiled-coil domains, encoded by the GSE1 gene. It is thought to act as a subunit of the BRAF35-HDAC (BHC) histone deacetylase complex, thereby potentially regulating chromatin remodeling and gene transcription. Evidence suggests that GSE1 may function as an oncogene in breast cancer and its expression is elevated in some breast cancer patients. Disease associations include intraventricular meningioma, myoclonic cerebellar dyssynergia, and, from ortholog data, stomach cancer. While its precise molecular functions are not fully elucidated, GSE1 is not currently recognized as a direct receptor, enzyme, transporter, or established drug target in therapeutic settings
