GSTCD antisense RNA 1 (GSTCD-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 4 (reverse strand: 105,746,245-105,827,259) in humans. It is classified as an antisense lncRNA, meaning it is transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the protein-coding GSTCD gene, and may regulate the expression of the GSTCD gene or nearby genes through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNA duplex formation, or chromatin modification. Like other antisense lncRNAs, GSTCD-AS1 is believed to play regulatory roles in gene expression, but there are currently no specific reports linking GSTCD-AS1 to a particular disease, therapeutic target class, or drug interaction. Its precise biological function remains to be elucidated, reflecting the broader challenge of characterizing many newly discovered lncRNAs in the human genome.
