Overview

GTF2A1 antisense RNA 1 (GTF2A1-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 14, transcribed antisense to the GTF2A1 (General Transcription Factor IIA Subunit 1) gene[1][8][3]. As an antisense RNA, it is classified as a long non-coding RNA with no known protein-coding capacity. The specific function of GTF2A1-AS1 has not been functionally characterized and there is no direct evidence that it serves as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or safety concern[1][8][7]. Its presumed function is likely related to the regulation of GTF2A1 or other local or networked transcriptomic effects via antisense or epigenetic mechanisms, as is common with lncRNAs[1][10]. There are currently no drugs known to interact with GTF2A1-AS1, nor is there evidence for a specific disease role, although lncRNAs as a class have been associated with diverse biological functions and diseases.
