Overview

GTP-binding protein 10 (GTPBP10) is a mitochondrial enzyme belonging to the Obg family of P-loop GTPases, structurally characterized by an N-terminal Obg domain and a C-terminal GTPase domain[2][3]. It serves a crucial role in the late stages of mitochondrial ribosomal large subunit (39S) maturation, associating with mitochondrial RNA granules and directly binding 16S rRNA[1][2]. GTPBP10 coordinates the correct assembly and accumulation of mitochondrial ribosomal subunits, enabling effective mitochondrial protein translation; its loss impairs mitochondrial gene expression and cellular energy metabolism[1][2][3]. No drugs are known to target GTPBP10, and it is not considered a therapeutic target at present.
