GTPase IMAP family member 7 (GIMAP7) is a protein encoded by the GIMAP7 gene. It belongs to the GTP-binding superfamily and specifically to the immunity-associated nucleotide (IAN) subfamily of nucleotide-binding proteins[1][2][3]. With demonstrated GTPase activity, GIMAP7 forms homodimers in which its active site comprises residues from both subunits[4][5][10]. Structurally, GIMAP7 has been shown to play a regulatory role in lymphocyte survival and homeostasis[4]. It can induce apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells in the context of disease, particularly polycystic ovary syndrome, and is differentially expressed in T cell lymphomas, implicating it in oncogenic processes[9][4]. GIMAP7 functions via dimerization-stimulated GTP hydrolysis, which may have broader implications for immune cell regulation[4]. Currently, no specific drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarkers, or safety concerns have been reported for this target in the retrieved sources.
