Guanidinoacetate N-methyltransferase pseudogene 2 (GAMTP2) is annotated in human genome databases as a pseudogene related to the functional gene encoding guanidinoacetate N-methyltransferase (GAMT). GAMT is an enzyme involved in creatine biosynthesis, but because GAMTP2 is a pseudogene, it is not transcribed or translated into a functional protein, nor does it have a known biological role, disease relevance, or drug interactions. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but typically carry sequence changes that prevent the production of a functional product. Therefore, GAMTP2 is not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target, nor is it relevant for biomarker or drug safety assessment purposes.
