Guanylate cyclase 1 soluble subunit alpha-2 (GUCY1A2)

Target
GUCY1A2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Soluble guanylate cyclase subunit
01

Overview

Guanylate cyclase 1 soluble subunit alpha-2 (GUCY1A2) encodes an alpha subunit of soluble guanylate cyclase, forming an active heterodimer (usually with the beta-1 subunit) that catalyzes the conversion of GTP to cyclic GMP (cGMP), a crucial second messenger in nitric oxide signaling. This enzyme is widely expressed, with especially high expression in neural tissues, and regulates vascular tone, neurotransmission, and other cGMP-dependent physiological processes. Dysfunction or altered regulation of GUCY1A2 may contribute to neurological conditions and cardiovascular disorders[1][2][4][5][6][7].
