Overview

Guanylyl cyclase domain-containing protein 1 (GUCD1) is a human protein encoded by the GUCD1 gene and is predicted to participate in biological processes such as liver regeneration and cAMP response, according to gene resource annotations[2]. While its nomenclature suggests a guanylyl cyclase function, studies indicate that GUCD1 lacks the functional domain that confers enzymatic cyclase activity seen in canonical guanylyl cyclases. Instead, it may play other, less well-defined roles in signaling pathways, and has been observed to interact with proteins such as NEDD4-1, potentially impacting cell growth regulation and tumor suppression[1][2]. GUCD1 is not recognized as a therapeutic target, and there is no evidence supporting its role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or drug target in current clinical or pharmacological practice[2][1].
