Overview

Gut epithelial barrier integrity markers are molecules or proteins used to assess the health and function of the intestinal epithelial barrier. These markers include citrulline, I-FABP, zonulin, LBP, claudins, and calprotectin. Alterations in these biomarkers can provide insights into early detection of mucosal injury, monitoring disease progression/remission, and evaluating response to therapy targeting mucosal healing.
