The gut microbiota and immune milieu represent a complex symbiotic ecosystem comprising trillions of microorganisms and the host's mucosal immune system. This biological environment is central to human health, performing essential functions such as the fermentation of non-digestible carbohydrates into short-chain fatty acids, synthesis of essential vitamins, and the training of the host immune system to distinguish between commensals and pathogens [1][2].
