Target intelligence / Profile preview
Gut microbiota restoration refers to therapeutic strategies aimed at re-establishing a healthy, diverse, and balanced community of microorganisms in the gastrointestinal tract. This is typically pursued after disruption (dysbiosis) caused by antibiotics, infections (notably recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection), or other factors that negatively impact gut microbial diversity and function. Approaches include fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), defined bacterial consortia, probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics.
