H19 Gene Promoter-Driven Diphtheria Toxin A Expression (DTA-H19)

Target
DTA-H19
Molecular classification
Gene therapy, Promoter sequence, Diphtheria toxin A
01

Overview

This gene therapy strategy uses the H19 gene promoter to drive expression of the diphtheria toxin A (DTA) subunit. H19 is highly expressed in many tumors but largely silent in normal adult tissues, making its promoter suitable for tumor-specific expression of DTA to induce selective cancer cell death. The therapeutic construct BC-819/DTA-H19 contains regulatory sequences from the human H19 promoter driving expression of diphtheria toxin A.
