Target intelligence / Profile preview
H2B histone pseudogene 7 (H2BP7) is a non-functional pseudogene belonging to the histone H2B family. Unlike functional H2B histone genes, H2BP7 contains mutations in its coding and regulatory sequences that prevent the expression of a functional histone H2B protein. Specific alterations include frameshifts, amino acid substitutions, and the absence of regulatory motifs such as a TATA box in the promoter region, rendering it unable to produce the canonical histone H2B protein[2][7][5][8]. As a result, H2BP7 does not participate in nuclear DNA packaging, gene regulation, or any biological process related to histone function.
