H2BC6 antisense RNA 1 (H2BC6-AS1, also annotated as AL353759.1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the strand opposite the H2BC6 gene. Antisense RNAs such as this are typically regulatory molecules that modulate the expression of their sense (protein-coding) gene partners or neighboring loci, often through mechanisms such as RNA interference, epigenetic modification, or recruitment of chromatin-modifying proteins[1][2][5][6]. While many antisense lncRNAs play roles in controlling gene expression or chromatin state, there is currently *no experimental evidence* that H2BC6-AS1 is a validated therapeutic target, a disease biomarker, or has a clearly defined biological function. Established mechanisms for other antisense lncRNAs include regulation of mRNA stability, recruitment of histone-modifying complexes, and involvement in diseases like cancer; however, no such functions or associations are yet confirmed for H2BC6-AS1 specifically[1][2][4][5][6]. **Note:** There is insufficient evidence that H2BC6-AS1 is currently a recognized therapeutic target or biomarker. This review identifies that the entry is likely non-standard: the gene is correctly annotated as a non-coding antisense RNA, but it is *not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or biomedical target* in conventional drug discovery. H2BC6-AS1 may have been included in a list of such targets by error[6].
