Overview

H3 histone pseudogene 29 (H3P29, also called p41) is a pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein product[2]. It is designated as a histone H3-related sequence but, like other pseudogenes in the genome, it is non-coding and does not produce the main histone H3 protein or any histone H3 variant[2][3]. Histone H3 itself is an essential nucleosomal core protein involved in packaging DNA and regulating gene expression through epigenetic modification, but pseudogenes like H3P29 lack biological activity[1]. There is no evidence that H3P29 is a therapeutic target, has disease relevance, is targeted by drugs, or possesses biomarker or safety concern status.
