H3 histone pseudogene 4 is a pseudogene located on human chromosome 1 (coordinates: 121,118,195-121,118,610, reverse strand)[3]. It was previously known by aliases such as HIST2H3DP1 and p05[3]. As a pseudogene, H3P4 does not encode a functional protein and its biological significance is limited; pseudogenes result from the accumulation of mutations in gene copies, rendering them non-functional. Unlike canonical histone genes, H3 histone pseudogene 4 is not involved in chromatin structure, epigenetic regulation, or any established cellular processes[2][5]. It does not have therapeutic relevance and is not considered a druggable or actionable biological target. There are no known interacting drugs, mechanisms of action, or associated biomarkers. Its classification as a histone-related pseudogene distinguishes it from other molecular families such as receptors, enzymes, or ion channels.
