Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid (PRP-TT) is a glycoconjugate used in highly effective pediatric vaccines against Hib disease. It consists of purified bacterial capsule sugar chains covalently attached to detoxified tetanus protein carrier—enabling robust antibody production even in very young children who would otherwise respond poorly if given only plain bacterial sugars as antigens.

Mechanism of action

Stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against the PRP capsule of H. influenzae type b. Conjugation to tetanus toxoid enhances immunogenicity and induces a T-cell dependent response, leading to stronger and longer-lasting immunity.
