Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) capsule polysaccharide PRP-T is a conjugate vaccine component. The PRP polysaccharide, unique to Hib type b strains, is conjugated to tetanus toxoid (T) to enhance immunogenicity in infants. The PRP capsule is a virulence factor that protects the bacterium from host immune defenses. Vaccination with PRP-T induces a robust antibody response, preventing invasive Hib diseases like meningitis and pneumonia.
