Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate conjugated to tetanus toxoid is a conjugate vaccine designed to prevent invasive diseases caused by Hib bacteria. The vaccine consists of the capsular polysaccharide from Hib—polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate (PRP)—covalently linked to inactivated tetanus toxoid protein. This conjugation process converts the poorly immunogenic PRP into a T-cell dependent antigen, enhancing immune recognition and inducing robust antibody responses, especially in infants. It is highly effective in reducing the incidence of severe Hib infections through routine childhood vaccination programs.
