Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b polyribosylribitol phosphate polysaccharide–tetanus toxoid conjugate (PRP-T) is a vaccine antigen used in Hib conjugate vaccines to prevent invasive H. influenzae type b infections, primarily in infants and children. It consists of the capsular polysaccharide (PRP) of H. influenzae type b, covalently linked to tetanus toxoid protein, enabling a strong and lasting T cell–dependent immune response that results in generation of high-affinity anti-PRP antibodies and immunological memory. PRP-T is not itself a therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme; rather, it is the immunogenic component in Hib vaccines used for disease prevention[2][4][6].
