Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide conjugate protein complex (Hib conjugate vaccine)

Target
Hib conjugate vaccine
Molecular classification
Polysaccharide-protein conjugate, Vaccine
01

Overview

The Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) polysaccharide conjugate protein complex is the active component in Hib vaccines, which are designed to prevent invasive diseases caused by H. influenzae type b, such as meningitis, pneumonia, epiglottitis, and septic arthritis. The vaccine works by inducing an immune response against the bacterium's capsular polysaccharide (PRP), conjugated to a carrier protein (Tetanus toxoid, Diphtheria toxoid/CRM197 mutant, or N. meningitidis OMP) to enhance immunogenicity.
