Target intelligence / Profile preview

Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus protein (Hib-Tetanus Conjugate)

Target
Hib-Tetanus Conjugate
Molecular classification
Polysaccharide-protein conjugate, Vaccine antigen
01

Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus protein is the active component in Hib conjugate vaccines. The antigen consists of purified capsular polysaccharide (PRP) from H. influenzae type b, covalently bound to inactivated tetanus toxoid. It induces a T-cell dependent immune response and strong antibody production against PRP, preventing invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b in young children.
