Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide-protein conjugate antigen (Hib conjugate antigen)

Target
Hib conjugate antigen
Molecular classification
Polysaccharide-protein conjugate, Vaccine antigen
01

Overview

The Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide-protein conjugate antigen consists of size-defined fragments of Hib capsular PRP covalently linked to an immunogenic carrier protein. This design converts a weakly immunogenic bacterial sugar into a potent vaccine antigen capable of eliciting robust humoral immunity—including memory—in young children who are most at risk for severe disease due to Hib infection.
