Overview

Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) polysaccharide-protein conjugate antigens are the active components in Hib conjugate vaccines, designed to prevent invasive diseases caused by H. influenzae type b. The key antigenic component is the capsular polysaccharide of Hib—polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP)—which is covalently linked to a carrier protein (e.g., tetanus toxoid, diphtheria toxoid) to enhance immunogenicity and induce a T-cell dependent immune response.
