Hair follicle epithelial stem cells are a population of slow-cycling, multipotent cells located in the bulge region of the hair follicle's outer root sheath[1][4][5]. They are responsible for the cyclical regeneration of the hair follicle, contribute to skin homeostasis, and play essential roles in tissue regeneration and wound healing[3][8]. HFSCs are regulated by a specialized niche and complex signaling pathways, such as Wnt/β-catenin, BMP, Notch, and Hedgehog[3][5][9].
