Haloacid dehalogenase-like hydrolase domain-containing protein 2 (HDHD2) is an enzyme of the HAD-like hydrolase superfamily that exhibits phosphatase activity and is involved in dephosphorylation and enzyme binding[5][1][2]. It localizes to extracellular exosomes and is implicated in cellular stress responses, particularly in the brain, suggesting a role in glycation repair and metabolic adaptation[1]. In rat models, HDHD2 has been identified as a phosphatase acting upstream of Tcof1 and may help regulate blood pressure and cardiovascular homeostasis[1]. Altered HDHD2 expression has been noted under conditions of stress and disease, such as in models with neurodegenerative or metabolic challenges[1][3]. Its direct clinical significance as a therapeutic target, known interacting drugs, or related biomarkers is currently not established.
