HAUS augmin-like complex subunit 7 (HAUS7) is a protein component of the augmin (HAUS) complex, an eight-subunit assembly essential for accurate mitotic spindle assembly, maintenance of centrosome integrity, microtubule branching nucleation, and successful cytokinesis during cell division[1][2][3][5]. HAUS7 contributes to the recruitment of the γ-tubulin ring complex (γ-TuRC) to pre-existing spindle microtubules via the augmin complex, thereby increasing spindle microtubule density and ensuring proper chromosome segregation during mitosis[1][2][3]. Deficiency or disruption of HAUS complex subunits, including HAUS7, can result in spindle assembly defects, chromosome misalignment, and cytokinesis failure, which are relevant to disease processes such as cancer[1][3]. HAUS7 is encoded by the HAUS7 gene (HGNC: 32979, NCBI Gene: 55559) and interacts with other augmin subunits (HAUS1–8) and, to a lesser extent, with ubiquitin hydrolase proteins such as UCHL5[2][3]. There are currently no known drugs, established clinical biomarkers, or specific safety concerns directly related to HAUS7 as a therapeutic target[3].
