HEAT repeat-containing protein 6 is a human protein encoded by the HEATR6 gene, located on chromosome 17. It contains HEAT (Huntingtin, Elongation factor 3, protein phosphatase 2A, and TOR1) repeat motifs, which typically enable protein-protein interactions and may participate in the assembly of multiprotein complexes. The protein is predicted to enable RNA binding and is amplified in various cancers, notably breast cancer, supporting a role as an amplification-dependent oncogene. Despite these associations, its precise molecular, cellular, and pathophysiological functions remain incompletely characterized, and no drugs are known to specifically target HEATR6 at this time.
