Heat Shock Cognate Protein 70 (Hsc70) is a constitutively expressed member of the Hsp70 family, playing a crucial role in protein folding, refolding, and degradation. It facilitates proper folding of nascent proteins, refolds misfolded proteins, and directs damaged proteins to degradation pathways like the ubiquitin-proteasome system and chaperone-mediated autophagy. Hsc70 is also involved in endocytosis, vesicle trafficking, cell cycle regulation, and immune responses. Dysregulation of Hsc70 is linked to various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and autoimmune conditions, making it a potential therapeutic target.
