Overview

Heat shock protein 90 alpha family class B member 3, pseudogene (HSP90AB3P), is a non-coding genomic sequence derived from the HSP90 family of molecular chaperones. Although based on the sequence of functional heat shock proteins, HSP90AB3P does not encode a protein product and is classified as a pseudogene. Functional HSP90 proteins are involved in protein folding, stabilization, and stress responses, and are important in oncogenesis and other diseases; however, HSP90AB3P itself does not participate in these cellular functions or disease roles. It occasionally appears in genomic or transcriptomic datasets due to sequence homology or annotation pipelines, but it is not an actionable drug target or clinical biomarker.

02

Mechanism of action

None applicable. As a pseudogene, there is no known mechanism of drug action

03

Biological functions

None established. Although it is *predicted* to enable ATP binding activity, ATP hydrolysis activity, and unfolded protein binding activity, these predictions are based on sequence similarity with functional HSP90 family proteins. There is no evidence for actual biological function, as pseudogenes are generally transcriptionally inactive or non-functional.
04

Disease associations

None established. Unlike functional HSP90 proteins (which are involved in cancer, autoimmune diseases, and stress responses), HSP90AB3P has not been implicated in any disease process or pathogenesis.
05

Safety considerations

None. There are no reported safety concerns or therapeutic challenges related to HSP90AB3P, which is non-coding and non-functional.
