Overview

Heat shock protein expression represents a fundamental adaptive mechanism that protects cells from diverse forms of environmental or physiological insult. Their centrality to proteostasis makes them critical not only for basic biology but also as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets across multiple disease areas. HSPs are grouped into several families based on molecular weight (HSP100/90/70/60/small-HSPS) and are induced via the Heat Shock Response mediated by Heat Shock Factors.
