Overview

Heat shock protein family B member 1 pseudogene 1 (HSPB1P1) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene, derived from the parental HSPB1 gene, which encodes heat shock protein beta-1. While HSPB1P1 does not produce a functional protein, it is abnormally expressed across multiple human cancers. Elevated HSPB1P1 RNA levels are correlated with cancer progression and poor prognosis, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma. Functional studies indicate that HSPB1P1 may regulate gene expression by acting as a ceRNA, modulating pathways such as EZH2 signaling in cancer. It is not a traditional therapeutic target but may serve as a prognostic biomarker and a candidate for future RNA-based therapies.
