Overview

HSPE1P2 (heat shock protein family E member 1 pseudogene 2) is a human pseudogene similar in sequence to the functional heat shock protein family E (Hsp10) member 1 gene. As a pseudogene, HSPE1P2 contains disruptions in its coding sequence that prevent it from producing a functional Hsp10 protein. Pseudogenes such as HSPE1P2 are generally not transcribed or translated into proteins, although some pseudogenes in the human genome may be transcribed into non-coding RNAs or have a regulatory function at the RNA level in rare cases[2][6]. HSPE1P2 is not regarded as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug interaction partner, and there are no disease associations or safety concerns documented for this locus[2].
