HSPE1P22 is a human pseudogene that belongs to the heat shock protein family E member 1 family, corresponding to the gene encoding mitochondrial chaperonin 10 (Hsp10). Unlike the canonical HSPE1 gene, which encodes a mitochondrial co-chaperonin involved in proper protein folding and cellular stress responses, HSPE1P22 does not encode a functional protein product and does not participate in cellular stress-response pathways. Pseudogenes like HSPE1P22 are typically genomic sequences that resemble known genes but are nonfunctional due to disabling mutations or lack of regulatory elements. As such, HSPE1P22 is not considered a therapeutic or druggable target, does not play an active biological or disease role, and is not used as a biomarker or drug interaction node in medicine.
