Overview

Heat shock transcription factor family, X-linked member 4 (HSFX4) is a protein-coding gene in humans predicted to function as a DNA-binding transcription factor involved in regulating gene expression via RNA polymerase II[1][10][14][16]. HSFX4 possesses sequence-specific DNA-binding activity and is active in the cell nucleus[10][16][17]. The gene is paralogous to other heat shock factor family members and is associated in some studies with corneal dystrophy and Bardet-Biedl syndrome, but its precise physiological and pathological roles remain incompletely characterized in humans[10][12][14][17]. There are no well-documented small molecule or biologic drugs directly targeting HSFX4, nor established biomarker or safety concern data specific to this factor at the current time.
