HECT domain and RCC1-like domain 2 pseudogene 3 (HERC2P3)

Target
HERC2P3
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA (if transcribed), Other (non-protein-coding genomic element)
01

Overview

HERC2P3 is a **processed pseudogene** derived from the parental HERC2 gene (HECT and RCC1-like domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 2). Pseudogenes like HERC2P3 are DNA sequences similar to active genes but are typically non-functional, often not transcribed or translated into protein. There is currently **no evidence** that HERC2P3 encodes a protein or acts as a conventional molecular target, nor is there functional or disease data specifically attributed to HERC2P3. It is one of several partial duplicates of HERC2 found on chromosome 15[1][3][4][6]. Some HERC2 pseudogenes (notably HERC2P2) have limited research suggesting possible regulatory roles or influence on tumor biology, but there is **no direct evidence or literature supporting such a role for HERC2P3**[2][5].

Biological functions

Other (no established canonical biological function; pseudogenes can sometimes regulate parental gene expression or play roles via lncRNA activity, but no evidence specifically for HERC2P3)
03

Disease associations

Other (no evidence specifically for HERC2P3; HERC2P2, a related pseudogene, has described roles in cancers, but these do not apply directly to HERC2P3)
