Helicobacter pylori adhesion factors are a group of outer membrane proteins (OMPs) that enable the bacterium to attach to the gastric epithelial cells, a critical step for colonization and persistence in the human stomach. These adhesins mediate interactions with specific host cell receptors, extracellular matrix components, and glycan structures on the gastric mucosa. Key adhesion factors include BabA (Blood-group antigen-binding adhesin), SabA (Sialic acid-binding adhesin), LabA (LacdiNAc-binding adhesin), and HpaA. Disruption or inhibition of these adhesion interactions is considered a promising therapeutic strategy against H. pylori infection.
