Hemagglutinin Antigen of Influenza A Virus Subtype H1N1 (HA (H1N1))

HA (H1N1)
Molecular classification
Glycoprotein, Viral protein, Membrane protein
01

Overview

Hemagglutinin (HA) is a homotrimeric glycoprotein on the surface of the influenza A (H1N1) virus, essential for viral infectivity. It mediates host cell attachment via sialic acid receptors and facilitates viral entry through membrane fusion. HA is a major antigenic determinant and a key target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccine development. The protein is cleaved into HA1 (receptor binding) and HA2 (fusion) subunits. The amino acid sequence at the cleavage site impacts pathogenicity.
