The hemagglutinin (HA) antigen is a major surface glycoprotein of the Influenza B virus, specifically from the Victoria lineage. HA plays a critical role in viral entry by binding to host cell receptors and facilitating membrane fusion. The Victoria lineage is one of two main genetic and antigenic lineages of Influenza B, the other being Yamagata. As a primary target for neutralizing antibodies, antigenic drift in HA necessitates ongoing surveillance and regular updates to vaccine formulations.
