Hemagglutinin (HA) is a glycoprotein on the surface of the Influenza A virus H3N2 subtype. It mediates viral entry into host cells by binding to sialic acid receptors and facilitating membrane fusion. HA is a major target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccines due to its antigenicity.
Vaccines induce neutralizing antibodies that block HA binding or fusion. Antibodies may target the receptor binding site (RBS) or stem region, preventing viral entry into host cells.
