The hemagglutinin (HA) stalk domain is a conserved region of the influenza A virus hemagglutinin protein. It is located at the membrane-proximal region of the protein and plays a crucial role in mediating pH-dependent fusion between viral and endosomal membranes, facilitating viral entry into host cells.
