The hemagglutinin (HA) protein is a major surface glycoprotein of the Influenza B virus, specifically within the Victoria lineage. It mediates viral entry by binding to host cell receptors and facilitating membrane fusion. HA is the primary target for neutralizing antibodies, making it crucial for immune recognition and vaccine design. The Victoria lineage exhibits significant antigenic diversity due to frequent mutations in the HA receptor binding site, enabling immune evasion.
