The hemagglutinin (HA) protein is a major surface glycoprotein of Influenza B viruses, specifically those belonging to the Victoria lineage. It mediates viral attachment to host cells and subsequent membrane fusion, enabling viral entry. HA is a key antigenic determinant and the primary target for neutralizing antibodies. Due to antigenic differences between Victoria and Yamagata lineages, vaccines must include components from both to provide broad protection.
