Target intelligence / Profile preview
Hematopoiesis is the process by which all blood cells are produced, including red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes), and platelets (thrombocytes). This process ensures the continual renewal of the cellular components of blood, replacing old or damaged cells to maintain healthy physiological function. It maintains adequate levels of circulating immune cells, red blood cells for oxygen transport, and platelets for clotting, and responds dynamically to physiological demands such as infection or injury by increasing production rates as needed. Dysregulation can contribute to diseases such as anemia, immunodeficiency, or inflammatory disorders.
