Target intelligence / Profile preview
Hematopoietic cell differentiation refers to the process by which hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) develop into all mature blood cell lineages. HSCs are unique in their ability to both self-renew and differentiate, maintaining the blood system throughout life by generating a continuous supply of diverse, short-lived mature blood cells. This process is tightly regulated at multiple levels, including signaling pathways, transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms, and microenvironmental cues. Disruption of normal regulatory mechanisms can lead to diseases such as leukemia due to aberrant proliferation or blocked differentiation of progenitor populations.
