Overview
Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) are a rare population of precursor cells capable of self-renewal and multilineage differentiation into all mature blood cell types. They are crucial for lifelong maintenance of the hematopoietic system and are used in transplantation therapies for various malignant and non-malignant diseases. HSPCs reside primarily in the bone marrow, but can also be found in peripheral blood and umbilical cord blood. Enrichment strategies often rely on surface markers like CD34.
