Overview

Hemorrheology (also spelled haemorheology or known as blood rheology) is the scientific discipline studying the flow properties and deformation of blood and its cellular and plasma components, including erythrocytes (red blood cells), leukocytes (white blood cells), platelets, and plasma[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. The field analyzes how these biophysical properties affect circulation, tissue perfusion, and are implicated in various disease states, but it is not a drug target, receptor, enzyme, or macromolecule. Hemorheology addresses concepts such as blood viscosity, cellular deformability, aggregation, and plasma protein interactions, all of which impact vascular resistance, oxygen delivery, and hemodynamic health[1][4][5]. Any listing of "hemorheology" as a target molecule or receptor is a category error.
